Project Description
January 2025 – Hawai‘i Nature Center’s Homeschool Science Series returns from January 15 to May 14, designed for children ages 6 to 11. This weekly, hands-on nature-based learning program provides a unique opportunity for students to connect with the natural world and deepen their understanding of environmental science.
The Homeschool Science Series will focus on a variety of key environmental topics, including climate change, sustainability, native species and local ecosystems. Students will participate in interactive lessons that include hikes, field activities, nature games and crafts. These activities are designed to engage kids’ curiosity, foster creativity and provide them with a solid foundation in environmental science.
The Homeschool Science Series provides students the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and gain scientific knowledge about nature. Through learning about coastal and wetland habitats and observing the impacts of climate change, students will develop a deeper connection to their surroundings and a greater understanding of the importance of environmental protection. In addition, hands-on projects allow students to engage with environmental issues directly, such as creating ecosystem models, studying native plant species, and learning about sustainability in daily life. This series aims to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards by offering an engaging, interactive, and fun learning experience.
Enrollment is now open for the Homeschool Science Series, which takes place every Wednesday from January 15 to May 14, from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, with drop-off as early as at 8:15 pm. There will be no classes on March 19 and March 26 due to the Spring Nature Adventure Camp. The cost for the full 16-week program is $1,375 Classes are not sold separately.
