Project Info

Project Description

July 2024 – Hawaiʻi Nature Center’s Homeschool Science Series Fall 2024 is open for enrollment. This term, students will explore various ecosystems of Hawaiʻi including marine, terrestrial and freshwater habitats, endemic species, and celebrate Hawaiian culture. Each Wednesday offers six hours of experiential, hands-on learning that employs writing, math, art, and group work for a cumulative, in-depth understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Held at Hawai‘i Nature Center’s Makiki campus, the program instills environmental ethics and teaches about Hawaiian ecosystems, native flora and fauna, climate change, and more.

Keiki will learn about the formation of the Hawaiian islands, the difference between native and endemic species using the Yellow-Faced Bee as the focus, the impacts of microplastic on marine species, and finish the semester learning how all ecosystems are interconnected. Students will emerge from this program as protectors and voices for the planet with an enhanced understanding of human-caused issues and everyday solutions.

Enroll your keiki today in our Homeschool Science Series Fall 2024 and inspire a lifelong passion for nature and sustainability.
