Project Description
April 2026 – It’s time to plan a field trip your students won’t forget. But don’t wait too long, Hawaiʻi Nature Center 2026 Oʻahu Fall School Program registration takes place April 23. Schools can secure their spot in one of Hawaiʻi’s most enriching outdoor education experiences, with reservations made on a first-called, first-served basis.

2026 Fall Field Trip Programs
Each program is designed to inspire curiosity, exploration, and environmental stewardship through hands-on learning:
Grade 1: Introduction to Plants, Animals & Healthy Habitats in Makiki Valley
9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Explore meadow, stream, and forest habitats while learning about survival needs, food chains, and stream life.
Grade 2: Cycles in Nature in Makiki Valley
9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Examine plant and animal life cycles along with nutrient, gas, and water cycles through hiking, stream exploration, and hands-on discovery. See how these cycles are interconnected and how humans are part of them.
Grade 3: Discovering Wetlands at Honouliuli National Wildlife Refuge
9:00 am to 12:30 om (September 2026 to January 2027)
Explore the wetlands of ʻEwa and discover how adaptation, interdependence, and dispersal shape this unique ecosystem. Learn about the threats facing endangered Hawaiian wetland birds and how conservation efforts are helping these species survive.
Program Details
All programs run from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and include a 30-minute lunch period. Fall semester runs from September through mid-December 2026 for Oʻahu schools. Programs are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and foster environmental stewardship through immersive outdoor experiences.
How to Reserve
Call the specific program phone numbers on April 23 between 9 am and 1 pm. Do not call before registration opens and do not leave a voicemail, as messages will not be accepted during the registration period. Reservations left on voicemail will be answered after the registration period. After April 23, schools may email reservation requests to Education@HawaiiNatureCenter.org. For questions prior to registration, call (808) 955-0100 ext. 131 (this line will not accept calls on registration day).
Title I schools may be eligible for scholarships, with award notifications provided upon reservation request. Spaces fill quickly, and reservations are made in the order calls are received. Don’t miss this opportunity to bring hands-on, outdoor learning to your students this fall.
