Project Description
Aloha, my name is Ocean and I am so happy to be working at the Hawai‘i Nature Center educating keiki. I was born and raised in Hawai‘i and attended multiple education programs along with a birthday party here at the Hawai‘i Nature Center. I graduated from Punahou School and received a BS in Biology from Portland State University. During my time in Portland, I held various positions studying river hydrology, water quality, and wastewater microbiology. Thanks to these experiences, I learned that I thrive working in an outdoor environment and find fulfillment in conservation.
While attending remote college courses, I was able to work as a preschool teaching assistant on O‘ahu. I fell in love with education, especially environmental education, and it helped direct me to the path I am on today. As a previous attendee here at the Hawai‘i Nature Center, I am living proof that these experiences foster sustainability, appreciation, and understanding of Hawai‘i’s environment. I am so grateful that I get to serve the place I call home, while combining my interests in science and passion for education here at the Hawai‘i Nature Center.
