Journey Through Pollination | December 20 – 23 (Monday - Thursday)

Can you imagine a world without apples, mangos, avocados, or almonds? Who knew that visiting flowers all day (or all night!) could bee so important? This week, we’ll journey through the process of pollination and discover how a sip of sweet nectar results in a juicy, tasty fruit. We’ll search for pollinators in meadows, forest trails, and along waterways. As we investigate the many issues that threaten pollinators today, we’ll engage in tangible solutions - working in the garden, sowing seeds and planting flowers. We’ll learn how caring for pollinators is beneficial for people, for plants, and for the overall health of our environment.

Native and Endangered Species | December 27 – 30 (Monday - Thursday)

Hawai‘i's islands are the most isolated in the world and have an astounding 10 different climate zones. Ninety percent of Hawai‘i’s native plants are found nowhere else in the world. Many species are threatened, endangered or have already become extinct. Students will learn about indigenous and endemic plants and animals and how to care for these unique and extraordinary species. Trek into the valley and partake in a scavenger hunt to help us identify native vs. introduced plants and animals in a forest ecosystem. With entertaining games and a field trip--hands-on learning at its best!

COVID-19 SAFETY  Keeping children, families and our staff safe is our highest priority.  Health and safety measures are in place to keep participants safe. Modifications include smaller group size to accommodate social distancing. We’ve added six feet of social distancing in our seating arrangements. Mask must be worn outside of snack and lunch times. Daily temperature checks are conducted.  More frequent and easier-to-monitor hand washing is required. Frequent disinfecting of surfaces and high traffic areas are performed. Since our programs are outdoors, we have lots of room to spread out and enjoy the fresh air while exploring nature.
