Project Description
Hello, My name is Spencer and I am very excited to be able to work here at the Hawaiʻi Nature Center and share my love for nature with curious children. I was born and raised in Northern California which is where I found my passion for conservation and nature. I would often go on family road trips to many different beautiful locations across the state and country, each of which had their own lasting memory.
I eventually came to Hawaiʻi to attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. During part of my time at the university I worked as a wildlife caretaker intern in a wildlife rehabilitation facility where I was able to care for injured wildlife. I graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi in 2024 with a BS in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. Soon after my graduation I applied for a position in the Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) through Kupu/Americorp. Kupu accepted my application and matched me with the Hawaiʻi Nature Center. My position as an Environmental Educator has shown me how important it is to share the knowledge that we all have here at the Hawaiʻi Nature Center with the next generation.
In my free time I enjoy being out in nature on hikes, practicing my wildlife and landscape photography skills, cooking, and trying all of the amazing restaurants on the island.
