Project Description
Aloha! My name is Analeise Dilley. I was born in Washington state, but raised on Maui. I grew up spending a lot of my time outdoors, whether it was for sports, camping trips, or simple exploration. I spent the summers as a kid roadtripping across the continental US with my family, exploring national/state parks and hiking trails. These trips gave me an immense appreciation and admiration for the natural world and the forces that dictate it. Starting in middle school, I volunteered at summer camps to help with younger kids, and it was there where I first grew to love children, their chaos, and their curiosity. I continued working summers throughout the years, and even ended up volunteering with Hawaii Nature Center for a summer in high school.
I eventually graduated high school from Kihei Charter School with both my diploma and a full year of college credits complete. I went on to study and earn a B.S. in Geology, a longtime passion of mine, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. There I got the opportunity to work in the lab, get out in the field, and help study/monitor Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. It was my time on Big Island that deepened my love for Hawaii’s different environments and species. After graduating and working in the lab for a bit, I moved back home and ended up with the Hawaii Nature Center again after all these years. I hope to help reach the kids through our programs and inspire that same admiration and passion for the natural world that shaped me into the person I am now!
